About the Opportunity
We are seeking an
Associate General Counsel – EMEA Employment Counsel
to serve as the regional subject matter expert on employment law across EMEA. This role will support a rapidly scaling organisation and will play a critical role in building employment law infrastructure, managing risk, and partnering closely with People, Compliance, and business leadership.
This position can be based remotely within Europe or on-site in our Dubai office, and requires flexibility to work across EMEA time zones. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment with evolving processes and will help design and implement scalable employment frameworks as the business grows.
What You’ll Be Doing
Act as the primary employment law SME for EMEA, advising on a broad range of employment and labour law matters across multiple jurisdictions.
Partner closely with the People/HR team to support the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions, restructurings, terminations, and employee relations matters.
Advise on employment aspects of business growth, scaling, and organisational change, including acquisitions, restructurings, and workforce planning.
Draft, review, and maintain employment-related documentation, including contracts, policies, handbooks, incentive plans, and internal guidelines.
Support the development and implementation of employment law processes, frameworks, and infrastructure in a scaling and evolving organisation.
Manage employment-related disputes and claims, including coordinating with and overseeing external counsel where required.
Advise on employee mobility, remote work arrangements, cross‑border employment issues, and works council/employee representative matters.
Monitor and interpret changes in EMEA employment laws and regulations, providing proactive, practical guidance to stakeholders.
Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and business teams to ensure alignment with company values and risk appetite.
What We Look For In You
Qualified lawyer in an EU or EMEA jurisdiction, with the ability to practise in at least one European jurisdiction.
Strong expertise in employment and labour law, with experience advising across multiple EMEA countries.
Open to background (law firm and/or in‑house), with experience in fast‑paced, scaling, or high‑growth environments.
Proven ability to operate effectively where processes are still being built, with experience creating structure and legal infrastructure from scratch or improving existing frameworks.
Commercial, pragmatic mindset with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
Experience working cross‑functionally with HR/People teams and senior business stakeholders.
Comfortable working independently while being a collaborative and trusted team player.
Strong communication, drafting, and stakeholder‑management skills.
Flexibility to work across EMEA time zones and travel when needed
Nice to Haves
Prior experience in fintech, financial services, technology, or crypto‑adjacent industries.
Experience supporting multinational or fully remote workforces.
Exposure to employment aspects of regulatory‑heavy or highly scrutinised industries.
