About the role:
Reporting to the CFO, this individual will be responsible for leading the global accounting activities of the Company. The ideal candidate is someone who inspires a high-performing accounting team but can also embrace ambiguity and loves solving problems. The candidate will possess a solid knowledge of US GAAP principles, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and financial operations. The candidate will also possess strong management and team leadership competencies gained through prior experience managing a corporate accounting department within a large, complex global organization. You will play a critical role in ensuring we continue building a world-class accounting function while partnering across the business to ensure our systems and processes are running smoothly. Our goal is to be scalable as we push towards global best-in-class operations.
You may find yourself doing all of the following:
Managing timely and accurate financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with US GAAP
Supporting the preparation and review of the consolidation of financial statements and disclosures of legal entities
Conducting thorough technical accounting research
Preparing clear and comprehensive technical accounting evaluation memos on complex transactions and events
Collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate financial information and disclosures
Managing accounting and reporting of revenue recognition, stock options, lease accounting, derivatives, financial statement disclosures, etc.
Assisting in the implementation of new US GAAP accounting standards and preparation of new or updating existing accounting policies
Coordinating with the financial operations team to assist in preparing the financial statements
Helping develop and maintaining internal controls over financial reporting, including drafting process memos
Assisting in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities and all digital asset accounts, including processes related to internal crypto reconciliation/ assessment of impairment
Preparing Statement of equity compensation and equity-related accounting reconciliations
Collaborating with process owners to understand the Company’s risks and controls and establishing a solid control environment to support our high-growth business
Working on complex accounting issues where problems are not clearly defined and where fundamental principles or historical precedents may not fully apply
Ensuring adherence to accounting policies and procedures
Assisting in external audit processes to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial data
Supporting implementation and design of new financial and accounting software and integration tools
Performing special, ad-hoc projects in Accounting/Finance, as requested
Qualification Requirements:
10+ years of progressive experience in audit/financial statement reporting/technical accounting, with public company roles in the financial services, Fintech or Payments industry
Big 4 Public accounting experience
Active CPA
Kept up to date with the proliferation of blockchain and crypto innovations
Extensive experience working with Carta for financial reporting and reconciliation purposes
Experience with implementing and evaluating US GAAP standards: ASC 718, ASC 815, ASC 326, ASC 606
Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting standards including: ASC 350-40, ASC 350-30, ASC 350-60
Other skills that are great to bring with you but that we can help you develop:
Ability to identify matters that have a technical accounting impact based on review of contracts, Board minutes, term sheets, etc.
Experience with accounting for different types of equity awards and equity programs from both a technical and operational perspective
Familiarity with an ERP system such as Netsuite, SAP, or Oracle
