Base is incubated within Coinbase and plans to progressively decentralize in the years ahead. We believe that decentralization is critical to creating an open, global cryptoeconomy that is accessible to everyone.
Base is built on Optimismâs open-source OP Stack. Weâre joining as the second Core Dev team working on the OP Stack to ensure itâs a public good available to everyone; and contributing a portion of sequencer revenue to funding public goods.
Base is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead, grow, and support a world-class team of full stack engineers in our mission to bring the world onchain. Youâll help nurture organizational health, steer project management, and identify opportunities for the team to tackle, while working closely with Product, Design, Security and DevRel functions to execute on the teamâs high leverage bets. We need a leader who can work with a high level of freedom and autonomy, advocate best in class development practices, and collaborate with internal and external partners on a daily basis. Responsibilities:
Lead and support a team of high-performing engineers, fostering an environment of mentorship, rigor, and outsized impact
Assist with charting organizational growth, including hiring, developing and retaining top talent
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Developer Relations, Business Development, Marketing, Legal, and Blockchain Security, to refine and drive Baseâs strategic objectives
Own project roadmapping and coordination across the team to enable high quality and rapid execution
Cultivate a culture of innovation and learning in onchain product engineering
What we look for in you:
At least 7 years of experience in software engineering
At least 2 years of engineering management experience
Strong technical competency, including onchain fluency
Experience managing high performing engineers
Track record of extreme rigor in operational excellence for mission-critical systems
Experience creating impact despite ambiguity
Youâre optimistic and excited about the future of crypto

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).
Pay Range:
$211,650—$249,000 USD
