Your Role:
Alpaca is seeking a Director of Brokerage Solutions to lead and support the continued localization and delivery of our brokerage platform in new international markets, with Canada as the initial and priority focus. This role will be responsible for adapting Alpaca’s existing global brokerage infrastructure, product capabilities, and operational model to ensure it continues to meet specific regulatory and market requirements, starting with the launch of a Canadian broker-dealer.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience working on launching an Order Execution Only self-clearing Canadian investment dealer. The candidate must be familiar with the CIRO regulatory framework and must have a strong ability to translate jurisdictional constraints into product and infrastructure solutions. Beyond Canada, this role will have the opportunity to support Alpaca’s broader global expansion, influencing how our brokerage capabilities scale into other regions over time.
This is a highly cross-functional role, working across engineering, legal, compliance, operations, and sales to deliver tailored, compliant, and scalable brokerage solutions in each market.
Key Responsibilities:
Localization & Solutioning
Lead the design and implementation of Alpaca’s Canadian brokerage offering by adapting global capabilities to meet CIRO and local regulatory requirements.
Define end-to-end workflows — including onboarding, custody, clearing, margin, and reporting — optimized for the Canadian market.
Identify and document infrastructure and compliance gaps for new markets and partner with internal teams to address them.
Contribute to the design of scalable patterns that enable Alpaca’s brokerage platform to support future international expansion.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with engineering, legal, compliance, operations, and product teams to solution and deliver region-specific brokerage features.
Serve as the bridge between global shared services and local business units to ensure coordinated and efficient delivery.
Manage execution timelines, risk assessments, and go-to-market dependencies across cross-functional teams.
Market Readiness & Global Expansion
Collaborate with business development and sales teams to align offerings with local commercial opportunities and customer needs.
Represent product capabilities and compliance strategy in local regulatory or prospect conversations, particularly in Canada.
Support operational readiness for new broker-dealer entities, including escalation planning and post-launch refinement.
Qualifications:
8+ years of experience in brokerage, product strategy, operations, or regulatory implementation roles, ideally within a cross-border or multi-entity structure.
Strong understanding of post-trade operations, account structures, margin, and custody workflows.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and translate local requirements into product and infrastructure plans.
Comfortable engaging with regulators, clients, and internal stakeholders at both strategic and technical levels.
Experience working in fintech, API-driven platforms, or high-growth financial services environments is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
Strong communication skills and ability to influence across organizational levels.
High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
